Mission Statement
| Our mission is to provide affordable, available, temporary, specialized childcare for families who have a child or children with special needs. Our vision is to provide this service to Weld County families every day year round in a facility specifically designed for this purpose. |
Program Summary
| 24/7 Kids gives parents a block of time to utilize however they wish as a break from their ongoing responsibilities of caring for their child or children with special needs. Children are paired one on one with a volunteer who spends 4 hours with them doing whatever the child chooses. Offered activities range from arts and crafts to video games or Wii, board games or playing in the gym. Dinner is served. Consistent staff includes a program director, registered nurse and behavioral specialist. The program is open to all children with special needs, ages birth to 21 years and their siblings. The cost is $10 for the first child and $5 for each additional child with a maximum charge of $30 per family per event. |
Wish List
| Funding for operational costs.
Fisher Price Toys for toddlers and infants. Land to build a facility or donation of a building that can operate 24 hours/day 7 days a week. |
Client Story
| Participating parents have expressed such appreciation for having a 4 hour block of time to do whatever they desire. One mother said she was able to go on a walk around the lake for the first time in many years. Another was delighted just to be able to take a nap. One mom was finally able to shop for pants without having to worry about her small children in the store. Couples have enjoyed date night, with dinner and a movie, confident that their special needs child is being safely taken care of. |
